Computer Ethics

 Computer Ethics deals with a professional conduct or behaviour of all computer users or operators. Computer ethics explains the rules and regulations in the computer room. It is a way of regulating behavioral pattern of the computer, managers, and operators in the computer room or computer centre.




WHAT IS A COMPUTER ROOM OR COMPUTER CENTRE?

A computer centre or room is an apartment where computer system and accessories are kept for use. The room is different from other rooms in a place of work because of the special and costly equipment that are kept inside and you where's the rooms are arrange.  

The computer room serves as data processing department and information technology needs of an organisation.  Presently  we are in the information age where every organisation be is large or small is aware of the importance of an efficient information system and its management.


COMPUTER CENTRE EQUIPMENT

Equipment found in computer centres are what makes a computer room special from other rooms in any organisation.  Some of these equipments are:

√ Sets of computers

√ Backing storage devices like magnetic tape and disk unit

√ Input and output machine like printer and light pen

√ Hand scanner, projectors and other miscellaneous equipment like air conditioners ,chairs, UPS, Cabinet and computer personnel.


KINDS OF JOBS CAN BE OUT IN THE COMPUTER ROOM

In a computer run the underlisted operations are carried out daily;

• Data entry and processing are usually carried out daily in the computer unit.

• Storing of the organisation data and information for retrieval

• Computer graphics and designs

• It also serves as training centres for the establishment.


ORGANISATION STRUCTURE OF A COMPUTER DEPARTMENT


1. Managing Director: This is the man or the question at the top of the company. He or she  maybe the finance of the organisation. He may be an employee of corporate organisation.

2. Computer Manager: The Computer Manager is the head of a computer company. He is the person vested with the responsibility of the entire Computer unit related activities. He controls the work of computer staff and report directly to the managing director.

3. System Analyst: He is the one who direct the compilation of business data and access it carefully to predict tends, and potential problems and opportunities to the programmers. He selects the types of software depending on the nature of job the company wants to embark on.

4. Computer programmer: He writes Program instructions detailed by the system analyst in a language suitable for the specific compiler. A programme must be able to reason logically and dearly.

5. Computer Engineer: He is also called a system Engineer. He is responsible for the regular maintenance of the system hardware when it brake down. He detect Minor breakdown and trouble shorting of the parts of the computer system.

6. Computer Architecture: At the part of manufacturing computer Architect are responsible for the total frame work of the computer. The internal circuits in a micro processor of the computer are their major jobs.

7. Computer Operators: An Operator is one who controls hardware or a computer related devices. They are often called data entry clerk.


MANAGEMENT OF COMPUTER LABORATORIES

The following rules and regulations should be obeyed in yhe computer laboratories.

(I) Avoid using format command on the Hard Disk

(II) Always shutdown your computer properly before you turn it off

(III) Avoid using diskettes from other sources that you will not infect your system with a virus.

(IV) Avoid dust entering the system

(V) Always switch on the Air conditioner or any cooking system while working with your system

(VI) Don't allow unprofessional to use your system

(VII) You should connect the computer to a stabilizer and UPS before use to avoid the computer being damaged due to heavy voltage.

(VIII) Always arrange chairs and tables in orderly manner

(IX) Always arrange the computer at it's peripherals sequentially


RULES AND REGULATIONS IN THE COMPUTER ROOM:

1. Computer room should be strictly out of bounds to non computer users

2. Do not smoke in the computer room

3. Eating should not be allowed in computer room

4. Drinking of water in the computer room is strictly prohibited

5. Switch off your computers when they are not in use

6. The computer environment must be kept in it all the time. It must be free from dust and any other dangerous objects.

7. a computer engineer should always check and amend faults when the needs rises
